About Mr. Shaikh
Mr. Irshad Shaikh is an experienced Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon based at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and Spire Norwich Hospital. Mr. Shaikh is one of the leading Robotic Colorectal surgeons in all of the UK with only a few to match his experience of Robotic Colorectal surgeries.
Mr. Shaikh has trained in Scotland with higher surgical training on the Southeast Thames rotation in London. He was awarded an MD (research) degree from the University of Aberdeen in 2008 and a CCT (completion of specialist training in general and colorectal surgery) in 2013.
Mr. Shaikh went on to complete an RSO fellowship at St Mark’s Hospital, followed by a fellowship in laparoscopic surgery sponsored by Ethicon in 2014.
Mr. Shaikh led the robotic colorectal program at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. Mr. Shaikh is a European-level trainer for robotic colorectal surgery and an experienced proctor accredited by EARCS. He was instrumental in supporting the robotic colorectal cancer surgery programmes in Scottish health boards and several hospitals in England. In addition, he is a trainer for laparoscopic colorectal surgery and also holds the position of College Tutor for the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Mr. Shaikh has numerous published several innovative operative procedures in peer-reviewed journals.
Mr shaikh has a specialist interest in treating anal fistula/fissure surgery, haemorrhoid surgery (including HALO procedure), anal and colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease surgery, rectal prolapse surgery, hernia surgery, and treatment of locally advanced pelvic cancer. The cancer surgery results are published online in peer-reviewed journals.
