About Mr. Radley

Mr. Radley graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1985 with Honours in Surgery. After completing his house officer posts in Birmingham, he assumed the role of a lecturer in anatomy at the University of Birmingham. Following Senior House Officer training, he engaged in research on colorectal cancer, submitting a thesis that earned him an MD from the University of Birmingham.

His journey continued with registrar surgical training in general and colorectal surgery in the West Midlands, culminating in specialized training at St. Marks Hospital in London. Simultaneously, he embarked on an overseas traveling fellowship to the USA, studying rectal cancer treatments with grants from the International College of Surgeons and Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Upon completing his training, Mr. Radley assumed the position of Senior Lecturer in Colorectal Surgery at Birmingham University and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. In April 2002, he became an NHS Consultant Colorectal Surgeon. His extensive publications, particularly on functional bowel disorders, showcase his contribution to the field. He served as the Clinical Service Lead for Gastro-intestinal Surgery at University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, playing a pivotal role in introducing laparoscopic colorectal surgery and enhanced surgical recovery protocols.

Notably, Mr. Simon Radley played a crucial role in establishing the Birmingham Bowel Clinic, the first private centre of excellence for managing bowel conditions in the West Midlands. The clinic boasts a team of highly qualified specialists offering a comprehensive, integrated service with a multidisciplinary approach to the management of bowel conditions.
