Consultant Colorectal Surgeon

Mr. Kapil Sahnan is an experienced colorectal surgeon based in London. Mr Sahnan works at St Mark’s Hospital, the UK’s National Bowel Hospital, and runs a tertiary referral practice specialising in proctology (including laser surgery) and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). He co-leads the hospital’s IBD robotic programme and hosts numerous international trainees and visitors annually.

Mr. Sahnan completed his undergraduate and postgraduate training at Imperial College London. He completed his basic training in Oxford and Bristol, before beginning his higher surgical training in London, after ranking first in the country. Mr. Sahnan completed the prestigious European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP) fellowship in robotic colorectal cancer surgery in Barcelona.

Mr. Sahnan is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Imperial College London, supervising PhD students. He also serves on the ESCP Education Committee, where he leads the international fellowship programme for pelvic floor conditions (including prolapse, bowel disturbances, and faecal incontinence). Additionally, Mr. Sahnan organises the annual Training Village, focusing on laparoscopic and robotic surgery, as well as abdominal wall reconstructions and hernias.

Mr. Sahnan also teaches on the ACPGBI’s National Proctology Roadshow, covering topics such as anal fistulas, laser surgery, anal fissures, haemorrhoids (piles), pruritus ani (persistent anal itching), and anal lesions (skin tags and AIN).

Mr. Sahnan has built an international reputation and is recognised as a global key opinion leader with over 100 peer-reviewed publications. Finally, he serves as an editor of Colorectal Surgery for Frontline Gastroenterology, the official journal of the British Society of Gastroenterologists.

    Mr Jitesh Parmar is a Consultant Laparoscopic Bariatric & UGI Surgeon. His areas of expertise include – laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, weight loss surgery such as gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, one anastomosis gastric bypass, gastric band and swallowable gastric balloon.     After completing his higher surgical specialist training in Leicester, he undertook two prestigious post CCT Fellowships in Bariatrics Surgery. He was trained by world renowned bariatric surgeons, Dr Michael Talbot and Dr Ken Loi at St George Hospital, Sydney.       Mr. Alfredo Tonsi is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, NHS, specializing in the surgical treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and rectal cancer. He is an expert in advanced minimally invasive surgery, having undergone extensive training during his Higher Surgical Training in London and the South West Thames region, which he completed in 2015.

      Mr. Tonsi received further specialist training in complex anal fistula repair, inflammatory bowel disease surgery, low rectal cancer, pouch surgery, and deep endometriosis at prestigious institutions, including St. Mark’s Hospital, St. George’s Hospital, and St. Thomas’ Hospital in London.

      In 2012, he was awarded a PhD following a scientific collaboration with the University of Verona, Italy, which focused on the association between familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) and primary duodenal cancer. His research contributed to several significant publications.

      With over 4,500 general and colorectal surgical procedures to his name, Mr. Tonsi has extensive experience performing:
